I’ve uploaded ten plans on how to make a silencer.  These  silencer plans cannot be copied for commercial gain but can be used for study purposes.  They provide a great insight on how to  build a silencer.

Remember that the main goal when we build a silencer is to control the gas as it escapes the end of the muzzle.  If we make a silencer that diverts the gas in a controlled manner it will make a silencer that quiets a firearm.  Each of the make a silencer plans that are posted do this.  Each plan does it in a different way but the main concept is to control the escape of gas.  Use the  silencer plans to design a silencer of your own.

If you build a silencer the main tube should have baffles that will divert the gas away from the end of the muzzle (see the make a silencer plans).  One suggestion would be to add an absorbing material to the areas that the gas is diverted to in an effort to slow those gases even more.  Each person that makes a silencer will have different ideas on how to do this and only through trial and error will you make a silencer that is best for your firearm.  Most videos and plans you see on how to make a silencer do not include any type of baffle system.  Although those make a silencer plans will quiet a gun they will not quiet it greatly.  To make a silencer that is quiet and efficient you must have a baffle system built into it.  Check out the make a silencer plans to see how this is done.

Make a Silencer: Understanding the Basics

Before you make a silencer you must first understand the function of a silencer.  The main reason to make a silencer is to muffle or “silence” the report of a firearm.  When a firearm is fired the gasses from the round escape at great force from the muzzle.  This causes the loud “bang” sound that we hear.  When we make a silencer that attaches to the muzzle the silencer attempts to “catch” these gasses and slow them which reduces the sound they make escaping the firearm.  Think of it like a muffler.  A car without a muffler is extremely loud.  Place a muffler on the car and you can barely hear it.  We want to make a gun silencer with the same concept in mind.

How do we make a silencer to capture these gasses:

When we make a gun silencer the easiest and best way to silence the firearm is to build baffles into the gun silencer.  The baffles can take various shapes and forms but the key thing we want them to do is slow the gasses before they escape the end of the muzzle.  Many of the “homemade” gun  silencers you will see use items such as crumpled paper, Brillo pads or other absorbent material in an attempt to quiet a gun.  While a person that makes a silencer this way has the basic idea using these materials very seldom will  actually quiet a gun.

To make a silencer that actually works we must actually control the gasses as they escape.  Using the items listed when you make a silencer will absorb some of the gasses but not in a controlled way.  All beneficial silencers will have well designed baffles that absorb and divert the gasses in a orderly manner.  When you make a silencer the main thing you will want to do is design the silencer with this in mind.  The plans I have posted here are all designed around this concept.  The make a silencer plans all have baffles built into them which control the gasses as they escape greatly reducing the report from the firearm.  What you will notice when looking at the plans is that the designs vary greatly which is beneficial to you as it gives you the opportunity to customize the plans to your liking and ability and to make a silencer custom to your purpose.

Before you yell at the make a silencer website:

Many people will tell you that it is useless to make a silencer unless you plan on using subsonic rounds.  If you use a round that travels around 1100 feet per second then the round will be breaking the sound barrier and will have its own distinct crack.  You will not be able to make a silencer to silence the crack, but a silencer will still silence the muzzle blast which is usually much louder than the sound barrier crack.  If you make a silencer while using a fast round you may not see as much benefit as when using subsonic rounds but you will see a benefit.

Keep this in mind when someone tells you it is impossible to make a silencer that will greatly quiet your gun.  Take the muffler off of a vehicle.  That vehicle will be extemely loud.  Put the muffler back on and notice the noise difference.  When you make a silencer you are using the exact same concept.  So don’t tell me it can’t be done when you make a silencer.

Silencers have their place in our world. Not only will it protect your hearing with a silencer but a silencer will come in useful when you want to remain concealed and hide the report of your weapon. This is very useful when hunting in and around urban areas.

Why the Make a Silencer Website?

This website came about because of all the crap information out there on how to make a silencer. Looking around the internet you will find numerous websites and videos that claim they will show you how to make a silencer. Most of these websites either show you how to make a silencer designed for an air soft gun or charge for their information. First, why would anyone make a silencer for an air soft gun? Why make a silencer for a firearm that is quiet to start with. If you are here to make a silencer just to make your gun look cool please look elsewhere. The make a silencer website was not designed for kids. Second many of the sites I visited wanted to charge around $25.00 for plans on how to make a silencer. What I found was that many of them were selling plans that are in the public domain. What this means is that you or I can get these make a silencer plans for free if we know where to look. This can become time consuming though so I decided to post the make a silencer plans that I found here for others to enjoy.

The plans on how to make a silencer I will be posting will be actual working plans not some crazy idea on how to make a silencer that doesn’t work and can be just plain dangerous. Most of the plans actually come from the U.S. Government and some most likely have been used by the United States Military. Some of the plans date back to the early 1900’s while some are newer. The make a silencer plans are all working plans that will give you a good working knowledge on how to make a silencer.
